05 | Let’s face the Narwal in the room
After speaking so much about my creation process, not speaking about the tool at my disposal seems hypocritical. Specifically, the ones that are unfortunately misused the most.
Generative Artificial Intelligence seems to be the next technological evolution. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m deeply fascinated by what can bring us to accomplish. I test, try out, and sometimes use various generative AI tools, primarily out of curiosity rather than necessity.
However, some considerations are in order. The first one is the ethical one since the origin of the data set for training those AI models still needs to be updated in some parts. The law and regulations are catching up, at least in the EU, but there are still too many voices claiming potential misuse. I’m trying my best here to use the tool to avoid its potential misuse, which means avoiding copy-prompts like “an image in the style of this author” and such. I’ll probably find a way to share the prompt I use on a standard level since it’s a part of my creative process that I don’t mind sharing and can be interesting for some of you.
The second one is purely practical since a game in its polished state deserves more than I can put on the table, even with the help of all the science and tech. I’m proud of Little Katy’s Tea Party because the illustration brings clarity and perspective to the game's color, and the contributors' scenarios bring a totally different point of view. Those are what I think make the game's value, and neither Midjourney nor ChatGpt can bring that to the table.
For both of the above reasons, you may see some generative AI in my early design drafts. Those works will remain freely accessible and are primarily built to collect early feedback. If you’re going to do that, you should consider any of those types of content as a placeholder. My published (or soon-to-be) work will still take advantage of talented, very peculiar humans such as editors, graphics, illustrators, and so on.
